Consultative Session on Investment Climate in Punjab

Punjab Planning and Development Department, under its Punjab Resource Management Programme (PRMP), organised a stakeholders consultative session on Investment Climate Reforms. The session was attended by senior government officials, members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), academia, practitioners, civil society and media personnel. The purpose of the consultative session was to highlight key steps being taken by the government to improve the overall investment climate of the province. Addressing the session, Planning & Development Department Provincial Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo highlighted the importance of private sector and export led investments in order to meet targets set under Punjab Growth Strategy.

He further stated that the government was committed to take major steps to facilitate investors and improving overall investment climate in the Province. LCCI Senior Vice President Almas Hyder also participated in the consultative session and lauded the efforts of the government to improve investment climate and for engaging private sector in decision-making process. On the occasion, Urban Unit Chief Executive Officer Dr Nasir Javaid gave presentation on Punjab Spatial Strategy, which would assess the potential of Punjab’s growth corridors and growth nodes and coordinate investments accordingly. He said that the strategy would inform large public investments related to connectivity infrastructure, urbanisation and the development of industrial estates.
