PPMRP Workshop - Showcasing Achievements

Punjab Reform Management Program, PMU, Planning & Development Board, and World Bank jointly organized a workshop on “Showcasing Achievements of Punjab Public Management Reform Program (PPMRP)" at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore on 14th February, 2019. The workshop was attended by senior government officials, senior leadership of World Bank, veteran academia, eminent development practitioners, civil society and media personnel. The sole purpose of this workshop was to share the knowledge regarding prominent interventions that were successfully implemented during the five years of PPMRP (2013-18).

Opening the forum, Mr. Habib-ur-Rahman Gilani, Chairman Planning & Development Board expressed his pleasure over the successful implementation of key interventions and highlighted the importance of Transparency, Access to services, Performance Monitoring and Resource Management for robust service delivery. Moreover, he said Punjab Government is keen to address the concerns of the people regarding transparency of government processes and to take forward key reforms. Guest of Honor, Dr. Murad Raas, Minister for Schools Education shared that government is focusing on improving organizational capacity of public sector departments. This would improve service delivery mechanisms and ultimately lead towards better governance and enhanced accountability of public offices. He also expressed that Government wants to promote and develop public sector on modern lines to improve the quality of life. World Bank representatives, Mr. Ismaila Ceesay, Global Practice Manager Governance and Task Team Leader of World Bank Ms. Clelia Rontoyanni thanked the government in their commitment to reforms in governance and welcomed future support for any such interventions.
